Turn the crank of this charming music box, and a taut wire along with quills inside the box create a delightful clinking sound. This music box is a predecessor to the modern musical box and was originally crafted in Seiffen around 1800. Over time, mechanical movements replaced the clinking, marking the birth of musical boxes in the Erzgebirge. To this day, they are produced in a wide variety with wind-up mechanisms.
