The music box "Farmer" is a charming piece of Erzgebirge folk art. By turning the crank, a wire and quills inside the box create a delightful tinkling sound. This type of music box, known as a "Klimperkästchen," is a predecessor to the modern music box. It was first produced in Seiffen around 1800. Over time, mechanical movements replaced the tinkling sound, marking the birth of music boxes in the Erzgebirge region. Today, these music boxes are crafted with a wide variety of winding mechanisms.
